What is it?
Eating disorders can come in many forms, but anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating are the three most common. Eating disorders often occur in response to feelings of intense fear around body weight, shame or guilt connected to body weight, or loss of control. All of these eating disorders can cause are serious health problems, perhaps life threatening, and can benefit from professional treatment.
Treating Eating Disorders
At the UO we offer a collaborative approach to working with people experiencing eating disorders. We assess each individuals needs in order to explore best treatment recommendations which may include services through the University Counseling Center and/or other resources in or outside of the university. We have found that a collaborative approach seems to be the most beneficial because it maximizes services and support.
