Hello from the Training Director

Elizabeth Asta

Dear Intern Applicant,

On behalf of the UCC staff, I would like to welcome you to our doctoral psychology internship program at the University of Oregon! We understand that applying for internship can be both exciting and stressful. The good news is that there are many wonderful training sites available to you. With that in mind, these decisions are often based on a match between your personal training needs and what the site has to offer. We hope this website will help you get a good "feel" for what the center and staff are like to help you further assess your sense of fit with our site.

Applicants often wonder what day-to-day life at the UCC might be like for them. In my experience, you would find staff laughing with one another in the break room, you would notice art work representing a variety of styles and cultures, you would see staff working hard together on projects, consulting about clients, and checking in with one another. Our programs, clients, and initiatives are very important to us, and we take them seriously. To balance that, we infuse a lot of laughter and camaraderie into our work so that we don't take ourselves too seriously. We truly love getting to know our trainees and being available for them to consult with us. We feel that having emerging psychologists in our center really helps us grow and we aim to create an environment of mutual learning from one another.

I have the unique experience of both being a doctoral intern at this site, and now, being the training director. Though our center and program has evolved over the years, the core remains: our love for training, our dedication to pushing ourselves in our multicultural competency, and our emphasis on our working relationships with one another. Feel free to contact us with any questions and take care of yourself during this busy application process!

Warmly,

Liz
