Depression

What is it?

Each person may experience a depressive state differently, but some common symptoms of depression include sadness, feelings of isolation or distancing from others, prolonged feelings of exhaustion or negativity, and inability to experience pleasure. It is likely that everyone will experience feelings of being depressed at one time or another, but they can become overwhelming, intense, or prolonged.

What can help?

If you are experiencing a depressive state, there are many different strategies you can take to alleviate it. You might try seeking out support from friends or family or engaging in activities that were pleasurable in the past even if they are not as enjoyable right now (e.g. playing or listening to music). Above all, it is important to be kind to yourself and aim to reach manageable goals rather than solve everything at once.
